Vocal R.E.S.E.T. Sessions, a new series of in-person enrichment events for our chapter

R.E.S.E.T. stands for Reset, Engage, Study, Educate, Teach.

RESET series

These sessions are intended to showcase the depth and diversity of expertise within our membership. Throughout the year, members will have opportunities to present lecture recitals, master classes, pedagogical demonstrations, student showcases, and other educational programs. Our hope is that Vocal R.E.S.E.T. Sessions become a place where we can learn from one another, celebrate our students and colleagues, and build stronger professional relationships across the chapter.

The Chapel + Cultural Center in Troy, operated by the Rensselaer Newman Foundation, will serve as the home for the series. While we recognize that our chapter spans a large geographic region, we hope many of you will be able to join us for one or more sessions each year. We also envision opportunities to feature presenters from throughout our chapter and to continue expanding the series in ways that serve all of our members.

2026–2027 Tentative Schedule

Lecture Recital: One Voice, Many Stories: Hearing How Style Shapes the Singing Voice

Sunday, October 4, 2026, 2pm
Inaugural Vocal R.E.S.E.T. Session
Presented by Carol Krusemark, Noah Palmer and Buffie Groves

This interactive lecture recital explores the vocal physiology and technique behind classical, musical theatre, and folk singing through live performance and discussion. Rather than asking which style is “correct,” the program demonstrates how each genre has its own artistic and technical demands – and how singers can develop healthy, expressive, and stylistically authentic performances across diverse repertoire.

A professional development workshop exploring the principles and application of Somatic Voicework™.

January/February 2027 (date to be announced)
Presented by Frances Wittman

Student Showcase: Art Song Festival Honors Recital (tentative)

April 11, 2027

A recital celebrating selected performers from the Eastern New York Chapter Art Song Festival, highlighting exceptional student artistry and providing an opportunity for our membership to celebrate their achievements.

While the Chapel + Cultural Center will serve as the home for the series, Vocal R.E.S.E.T. is intended to be a chapter-wide initiative. We hope to feature presenters and educational programs from members throughout Eastern New York and to create a forum where our diverse experiences and expertise can be shared with one another.

Additional future topics under consideration include coaching older singers, voice mapping with real-time feedback, and other member-led educational presentations.

We hope Vocal R.E.S.E.T. Sessions become an engaging forum for sharing ideas, celebrating excellence, and strengthening the connections that make our chapter unique. We look forward to seeing many of you this year and, in the future, to welcoming presenters from throughout our membership.

More information about the October 4 inaugural event – including time, registration, and program details – will be shared soon.
